Red Hot Rangers is 1947 George and Junior short directed by Tex Avery. In a national park named Jello-Stone (Parody of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming) "No Smoking" and "No Vacancy" signs are located almost everywhere, but this doesn't stop one man in particular, who grabs out a cigarette and smokes. He carelessly throws the cigarette out of his car which burns a leaf and soon after creates an anthropomorphic flame, the flame smashes the leaf with "Help Prevent Fires" and "No Smoking" signs

A canary, unhappy with his life in a cage, manages to escape. He flies happily through the outdoors and tries life in the wild to the strains of "Man on the Flying Trapeze." However, he finds the outside world too dangerous for his liking, and he returns to the safety of captivity.

During the period covered by these cartoons, the Second World War came to an end. This did not stop the writers from finding new situations for Tom, Jerry, Droopy, et al. Barney Bear was on hiatus, but would return in the near future. The Oscar nominations and victories were coming to the studio thick and fast, including wins for “Quiet Please” and “The Cat Concerto” (neither of which contribute new melodies for this post). The award that had been exclusively Disney’s was for a short time becoming exclusively MGM’s.
